Islamic psychology, for South Africa.
Care for the mind is not new to Islam. RUH Centre brings that tradition together with modern psychology, for the community it serves.
The mind, the heart and the soul.
Islamic psychology understands the person as more than thoughts and behaviour. It draws on the Qur'an, the Sunnah and scholars such as Al-Ghazālī, Al-Balkhī and Ibn Qayyim, who wrote on the mind and heart centuries ago.
- QalbThe heart, the seat of understanding and faith.
- RuhThe soul, which longs for nearness to the Divine.
- AqlThe intellect, which reasons and reflects.
- NafsThe self, with its desires and struggles.
